Do you ever stop in the middle of a workout just to contemplate the next rep? Sometimes you do it because you just can't work any harder and your body has to recover a bit before picking up the bar again. Other times, you have to stop yourself because your form has deteriorated so much that it no longer makes sense to do another rep. Ideally, you'd always power through a workout without a single break, moving fluidly from one movement to the next, and finish the workout knowing you went hard and fast with excellent form. Some days it goes like that, other days it's a struggle just to get to the gym, much less go hard and fast through a workout. No matter how you're feeling, unless you're sick, just get to the gym. If you need to contemplate reps during your workout, that's okay. It's better to contemplate the next rep than to contemplate whether you'll even show up for your next workout.
