The carefree days of summer are quickly coming to an end. Lazy days on the beach will give way to more productive activities. In the natural rhythm of the year, August is a well-placed month to evaluate where you are, create new plans, and then surge into September with powerful momentum.
It’s normal to pull back on training and be more liberal with your eating plan in the summer. CrossFit is hard and we encourage periodic, active recovery phases. However, a continued lackadaisical attitude toward health and fitness will quickly derail all previous progress.
Have no fear, you are a member of CrossFit Ocean City and we are here to get you back on track.
First Step: find routine. Make training something you just do. It’s not negotiable. Just show up. Attend class on a REGULAR basis. Come 2, 3, or more times a week, every week, no matter what.
Second Step: treat your class time like a very important meeting . Your coach prepares for every class he or she teaches. Your coach anticipates your arrival and plans for your personal needs. You’ll get more out of your training if you do the same. Prepare for class by checking the WOD, bringing the right gear, and arriving before class starts.
Third Step: decide what’s next. At different times in your life you different things. What do you need right now with regard to your health and fitness?
- Accountability to show up?
- A short list of skills to work on at home?
- An athletic event to train for?
- Nutrition basics?
- A kick-in the pants with regard to your eating plan?
- A post injury or illness recovery plan ?
