The final day of the challenge brings a lot of feelings to the participants. Some of you will be happy not to have to blog, log, and do the eating-right thing. Others will miss the accountability and fall off the wagon, quickly resume old eating habits and slack off on regular training. But those who have had a profound discovery of the power of nutrition and consistent training have found the keys to the kingdom. Does this mean you have to be 100% paleo or primal for your entire life? Nope. But maintaining a goal of eating 100% while enjoying a few "cheat" meals once in awhile isn't a bad thing and keeps the masses of your non-CrossFitting friends from believing you joined some kind of food cult. If you find that you really need the daily accountability, then come talk to us so we can help you stay on the right path. We have lots of nutritional programs we can share with you.
As you begin to step away, somewhat, from the healthier aspects of paleo/primal, remember to introduce foods slowly. Leaving the cave doesn't mean running over to Layton's on Sunday morning for the tall stack of chocolate chip pancakes and box of a dozen donuts, followed by a venti hazelnut latte atStarbucks, and lunch at Dumsers. If you do go that route, please share your late afternoon feelings. In all seriousness, your body will receive the reintroduction of sugar, bread, alcohol, dairy and the like as poison. Remember, we eliminated them because of the ill-effects they cause. Don't be surprised if you feel really crummy. Go easy. As you introduce certain foods, do so one at a time and allow a week or so to let your body adjust. Determine how each type of food makes you feel. If it makes you feel bad, or causes allergies, then you know not to eat it. If you need some individual motivation, go rent and watch "Supersize Me" to see what poor eating can do to you in just 30 days.
Thank you to our fantastic staff for all of their assistance. Lorie and Ann were instrumental in making this a huge success. Lynne and Erick supported and encouraged everyone. We're very fortunate to have you on our team.
As for the Nibbles and Bits blog, we'll continue to post nutrition tidbits, recipes, ideas to ponder, and links. Expect a post every couple of days rather than every day. We hope you will continue to read and post to comments. Clearly, everyone enjoyed your contribution
Merry Christmas,
Steve and Kelley
