Yes. They are Paleo. And a few nutballs from time to time can be a great way to add some healthy fat into your diet. Yes, I said healthy fat. Without healthy fats, you'll be hard pressed to feel satiated at each meal. Without healthy fat, your digestive tract may not function optimally. Fat is essential and the sooner we realize what's essential for good health, the better off we'll all be.
Contrary to what our government wants us to believe, low fat diets are NOT healthy. Low fat diets drive us to eat high carb foods, which then leads to the obesity problems we face now and in the years ahead. Check out this latest report on the obesity epidemic. The data in the report is sound, but the writer blames the epidemic on the economy. What? Since when did the economy determine what you put into your mouth? The sad truth is that it is now more affordable to buy food for a family of four at McDonalds for less than it costs to buy high quality protein, veggies, and good fats.
Rather than focus the nation's attention on solving the root cause of our obesity problem and, by implication, our nation's healthcare problem, we'll continue to allow for cheap, crappy food sales. Eventually, we, as a nation, will have to care for all those sick people. In my opinion, those that eat right, workout regularly, and avoid destructive lifestyles should get a break on health insurance. Make those that continue to make poor choices foot the bill.
