Here's my answer: Real Food: food that came from the ground or a tree. Food that was grown or fed with love and care. Food with vibrant color and texture. Food that will rot in a few days. Food that your great, great grandma would know and recognize. Food that tastes GOOD!
Real Food that tops my list: grassfed beef, poultry, pork, venison, eggs from free-range chickens, fish, vegetables from local farmers, heavy cream and yogurt from grassfed cows, seasonal fruit, nuts, seeds, and, of course, coffee. I know, it's a short list. But, you know what, it makes it really easy to eat really well. All the gazillion other food products are just fillers in slick packaging that ultimately, give me a headache, puffiness, and a bad mood.
In the weeks to come, we'll explore the science of food and why the time is now to return to real food. Check back daily. We'll show you what to eat, where to get it, and how to make it taste good.
