Last summer, my energy level reached an all time low. I was doing my regular daily runs and staying busy with my family. Something just wasn't right. Kelley asked me about me food intake. She quickly pointed out that I wasn't eating enough to support my training goals or my energy requirement. Kelley helped me look at food from a different perspective - food as energy. Once I realized the importance of keeping my gas tank full of high quality food, I was liberated from all the diet nonsense. Kelley directed me to The Zone. I read the book cover to cover. Kelley and I figured out food selections based on the foods I liked. I started to eat 5-6 mini-meals a day. My energy picked up. Within days, I felt like a new person.
I have enjoyed running, swimming, step and dance aerobics my whole life. Cardio alone was no longer keeping my body in the shape I wanted it in. Kelley and Steve introduced me to CrossFit. I was hooked from the very first workout! Within a week, I felt stronger. Within a month, I had biceps and triceps and lean legs. At two months, my entire body was smaller and tighter.
I like CrossFit because you never know what the workout of the day will be. I do my workouts at home. I do not own a lot of equipment but Kelley has coached me on how to use what I have. She gears the workouts to my level and a little beyond so I get a terrific workout. As a result, I have seen results like never before. If you are lucky enough to live near a CrossFit Affiliate, go to them and have them coach you on how to do the exercises properly. Doing so will enhance the quality of your exercise form as well as your strength.
My husband is very proud of me and all that I have accomplished in the last three months. So much so that his Marines know I am dedicated to CrossFit and balanced eating. Recently, my husband and I attended the Marine Corps Birthday Ball. The highlight of the night was hearing, "Hey, that CrossFit really works!"
I am leaner and meaner than I have ever been. Short, high intensity CrossFit workouts combined with a balanced eating plan as outlined in The Zone is just what I needed to give me the energy and drive I was longing for. I am a better person, mom, and wife because I have energy to do all the things I love to do and plenty to spare for my next CrossFit workout!
